In addition to the live shows and gallery exhibitions (see "Impulse Shows") Impulse puts on regularly, hundreds of students have participated in Impulse Winter Expo and Spring Expo's each year, competing in the areas of marketing, fashion, photography and fine art. Professionals from industry serve as mentors and judges, helping the students understand how to reach the level of "industry standard" in their work. Student winners receive awards, gift certificates, and public recognition for their hard work.

Marketing (each design includes a marketing campaign): Entrepreneurial Business Design, Local Business Makeover, Political Campaign Re-Design, Retail Store Design, Community Event Design, Recycling Program Design. Fashion Merchandising (each design includes a marketing campaign): Clothing Store Design, Fashion Event Design, Fashion Magazine Design, Clothing Line Prediction & Design. Photography (each series includes an artist's statement and research): Portraiture, Landscape, Still Life, Experimental. Fine Art (each series includes an artist's statement and research): Drawing & Painting: The Figure, Landscape, Still Life, Experimental.
