"Through Our Eyes": Photography & Writing By Members of the Rainier Beach Community Center, Seattle, WA
Excerpt from "Through Our Eyes": Freechaeuh & Jemella Kennebrew. Freechaueh writes, "I love to write stories that make me happy, and some stories that make me sad. If we were going to save the world, no one would have guns." Jemella writes, When I grow up, I want to be a lawyer because I like solving people's problems and helping them."
"A Dozen Voices": Poetry & Photography by SYEP Youth. The SYEP Teen Artist Workshop Series, "Who Am I? Exploring Issues of Identity, Race and Culture" was made possible through collaborative funding between the Seattle Public Schools and the Seattle Youth Employment Program.
Excerpt from "A Dozen Voices": Bashir Abdi writes, "Life is like a tower. We all want to reach the top, but sometimes we fall down the stairs." and "Why are we more concerned with domination, guns and conquering a nation... (why are we) fighting each other as God's creation?"
"A Dozen Voices": Courtney Robinson (reading) and Hieu Pham battle it out in a poetry slam at Starbucks, Seattle, WA. Hieu writes, "Who really knows what the future holds? It's all up to us, we're in control. We could sit back and watch the world go by, or take a risk and learn to fly."
"My religion is simple.  My religion is kindness."  H.H. The Dalai Lama
